Alma Haik’s famous recipe that won the Grand Prize in the baking contest at the first Chugiak Carnival:

1 cake fresh yeast

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup warm milk

1/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup melted butter

2 well beaten eggs

4 cups all purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

CREAM yeast with 1 tablespoon sugar. ADD remaining ingredients. MIX well and place in refrigerator the day before rolls are to be baked. When ready to bake, divide dough into two parts. ROLL out into large circles. SPREAD with melted butter. CUT each circle in 16 pieces like a pie. ROLL each piece from the wide end toward the center. LET RISE until double in bulk. BAKE 10 to 15 minutes at 375 degrees.

Will make 32 rolls.
