Woman steals cellphones from Walmart
An unidentified woman stole three cellphones worth a combined total of $459.64 from the Walmart in Eagle River on Jan. 13, according to Anchorage Police. The suspect, described as a white female between the ages of 20 to 25 with blonde and red hair, took the phones into the bathroom and removed the packaging, APD spokesperson Anita Shell said. She then left the store.
APD is in the process of obtaining the security footage to identify the suspect, Shell said.
Chugiak man cited for shoplifting
Chugiak’s Peter Palmer, 38, was charged with fourth-degree theft after attempting to steal $29.14 worth of merchandise from Fred Meyer in Eagle River on Jan. 9, Shell said. He was cited and given a court date, she said.
Anchorage’s Kyle Ray, 19, was charged with driving under the influence after police stopped him for swerving while he was traveling outbound on the Glenn Highway near Eklutna at 6:44 a.m. on Jan. 11, Shell said. Police witnessed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test, she said.
After Ray provided a breath sample of 0.00, he had his blood drawn, Shell said. Police were still waiting for the results as of Monday, Jan. 20.
Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
