Eagle River girls pick up first win of the season

It was a busy week for local cagers. Here’s a look at the results:
BOYS
Service 87, Eagle River 52
Visiting Service downed Eagle River 87-52 on Tuesday, Jan. 29. Shaquan Rhoades scored 20 points to lead the Wolves, who fell to 2-3 in the Cook Inlet Conference.
South 50, Chugiak 43
South handed host Chugiak a 50-43 loss Tuesday, Jan. 29. Skyler Fullmer poured in 22 points for the Mustangs, who fell to 0-3 in the conference.
Mustangs go 3-0
Chugiak went 3-0 to win the Cordova Elks Tipoff on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26.
All 10 Mustangs scored in Chugiak’s 76-37 win over Tok to open the tournament Friday. The following day, Chugiak beat Cordova 51-43 before earning a 48-32 victory over Su-Valley.
Skyler Fullmer averaged 18 points and Payton Fuller averaged more than 17 for the tournament to lead Chugiak.
BCS 70, Nikolaevsk 53
Birchwood Christian School jumped out to a 26-6 lead after one quarter en route to a 70-53 win over Peninsula Conference foe Nikolaevsk on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
ERHS 83, Bartlett 75 (OT)
Rhoades pumped in 29 points to lead Eagle River in an 83-75 overtime win past Bartlett on Monday, Jan. 28. Eric Roberts poured in 24 points for the Wolves.
Chugiak 72, Homer 48
Skyler Fullmer pumped in 29 points to led Chugiak to a 72-48 victory over nonconference Homer on Jan. 24. Payton Fuller added 17 for the Mustangs, who also got 10 from Roger Jorgensen.
ACS 52, Eagle River 39
Anchorage Christian Schools downed Eagle River 52-39 in an endowment game Jan. 24. Rhoades and Roberts scored 10 points apiece for the Wolves.
Dimond 52, Eagle River 42
Dimond beat Eagle River 54-42 on Jan. 23. Rhoades paced the Wolves with 16 points and Roberts chipped in 11.
West 82, Chugiak 65
Payton Fullmer erupted for 39 points, but it wasn’t enough to get past West as the Eagles defeated Chugiak 82-65 on Jan. 23.
GIRLS
Eagle River 55, Service 14
Eagle River notched its first win of the season over visiting Service 55-14 on Tuesday, Jan. 29 to improve to 1-5 in the Cook Inlet Conference.
Dana Panfil led the Wolves with 14 points. Sam Coy added nine and Lauren Frost and Shekinah Young chipped in eight apiece.
South 75, Chugiak 67
Visiting South defeated Chugiak 75-67 in CIC action Tuesday, Jan. 29. Haley Scott scored 15 points and Brandy Bookout added 14 for the Mustangs. With the loss, Chugiak fell to 1-3 in the conference.
Nikolaevsk 54, BCS 22
Visiting Nikolaevsk cruised past Birchwood Christian School 54-22 in Peninsula Conference action Tuesday, Jan. 29.
Bartlett 58, Eagle River 26
Visiting Bartlett dropped Eagle River 58-26 on Monday, Jan. 28. Frost paced the Wolves with 10 points.
Chugiak 56, Eagle River 27
Bookout scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Chugiak down Eagle River 56-27 in conference action Saturday, Jan. 26.
Chugiak 37, Homer 21
Bookout scored a team-high eight points to help Chugiak get past nonconference Homer 37-21 on Jan. 24.
Dimond 81, Eagle River 29
Coy led Eagle River with 13 points in an 81-29 loss to Dimond on Jan. 23.
West 62, Chugiak 53
Andre Samaniego paced Chugiak with 14 points in a 62-53 loss to West on Jan. 23.
