Eagle River 41, Service 38

Eagle River notched its first Cook Inlet Conference win of the season with a 41-38 victory over visiting Service on Saturday, Jan. 25. Lauren Frost (14 points) and Samantha Coy (10) led the way for the Wolves.

 

Skyview 43, BCS 6

Skyview downed Birchwood Christian School 43-6 at the ConocoPhillips/Warrior Rumble at Nikolaevsk on Saturday, Jan. 25. Skyview won the title via a tiebreaker for fewest points allowed.

Bryce Vickers’ five points led BCS, which won the sportsmanship award. Vickers, a freshman, was named to the all-tournament team.

 

East 60, Eagle River 28

Coy’s 10 points led Eagle River in a 60-28 loss to visiting East on Friday, Jan. 24.

 

Nikolaevsk 52, BCS 18

Vickers paced BCS with 13 points in a 52-18 loss to host Nikolaevsk at the Warrior Rumble on Friday, Jan. 24.

 

Nenana 65, BCS 21

Tia Goward and Vickers combined for 15 points in the Warriors’ 65-21 loss to Nenana in the first round of the Warrior Rumble on Jan. 23.

 

South 64, Eagle River 19

Coy scored a team-high 11 points for Eagle River in the Wolves’ 64-19 loss to host South on Jan. 22.

 

BOYS

Service 69, Eagle River 53

Thomas Jones (16 points) and Justin Patin (11) reached double digits for the Wolves, who fell 69-53 to visiting Service on Saturday, Jan. 25.

 

Falcons sweep Mustangs

Chugiak dropped a pair of games at Thunder Mountain on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24-25. The Falcons won 56-49 on Friday and 70-40 on Saturday.

 

Kalskag 45, BCS 41

Dakota Buyse led Birchwood Christian School with 13 points in a 45-41 loss to Kalskag at the ConocoPhillips/Warrior Rumble at Nikolaevsk on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Tyler Keiffer added 12 points for BCS, which won the sportsmanship award. Keiffer and Dakota Jones were named to the all-tournament team.

 

East 61, Eagle River 50

Visiting East downed Eagle River 60-51 on Friday, Jan. 24. Jones scored a team-high 11 points for the Wolves.

 

Nikolaevsk 60, BCS 44

Keiffer’s 21 points ledt BCS in a 60-44 loss to host Nikolaevsk at the Warrior Rumble on Friday, Jan. 24. Jones added 11 points for Birchwood.

 

Nenana 67, BCS 43

Nenana posted a 67-43 win over Birchwood in the opening round of the Warrior Rumble on Jan. 23. Keiffer (25 points) and Jones (10) recorded double digits for BCS. Nenana went 3-0 to win the tournament title.

 

Bowling

Chugiak rolls to victory

The Mustangs cruised past South in Anchorage Scholastic Bowling League play Jan. 23 at Eagle River Bowl.

William Spear rolled a high game 197 to help Chugiak’s boys to a 31-4 win. Savannah Hudson’s high game of 181 helped the girls to a 27-8 victory.

 

Bartlett sweeps Eagle River

Bartlett’s girls downed Eagle River 25-10 and the Golden Bears’ boys won 33-2. The Wolves’ Shannon Jones rolled a high game 181.

 

Hockey

Service 4, Chugiak 2

Zachary Krajnik and John Hammer gave Chugiak a 2-1 first-period lead, but Service scored three goals in the third to earn a 4-2 win Saturday, Jan. 25 at Ben Boeke.

 

Dimond 6, Eagle River 3

Dimond netted five goals in the third period to skate past Eagle River 6-3 on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Ben Boeke. Kory Cain scored twice and Jesse Johnson added a goal for the Wolves.
