Eagle River hooper to take game to next level
Jones will be competing at Everett Community College
High school basketball standout Thomas Jones has decided to play college ball for Everett Community College. Jones had received more than a dozen offers from NCAA Division 1 and 2 institutions before deciding on Everett.
Two-year Eagle River High basketball letter-winner Thomas Jones will be attending Everett Community College and playing ball for the Trojans.
Playing ball since age three, and developing a love for the sport throughout the school years, Thomas played basketball in the Chugiak Youth Sports Association, on YMCA Comp teams and for the Eagle River Wolves C, JV and varsity teams.
A well-rounded student-athlete, Thomas will be looking to double-major in physical education and sports medicine.
Jones signed a national Letter of Intent in May, in the high school’s library, flanked by parents James and Princella Jones. Ms. Jones was the school’s varsity girls’ basketball coach. Eagle River boys’ varsity coach Fred Young and Dimond High coach Brad Lauwers, family and friends were also in attendance for the signing.

Basketball honors received his senior year included the 2014 Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches (AABC) Senior All-Star team, and selection to the 2014 All-Cook Inlet Conference squad.
