“The Post Office Seed Store”

Published:

From a 1960s Knik Arm Courier article:

For those who are beginning to plan their summer garden, we wish to call attention to the seed rack at the Chugiak Post Office building.

Paul Swanson, an avid gardener himself, and president of the Chugiak Garden Club, has placed these seeds there for the convenience of his many friends, and this year offers a complete and varied selection of Northrup King vegetable seeds, as well as some flowers.

In addition to the selling of seeds, Paul is very generous in giving of his time to answer many questions on gardening problems. Paul has had many years of experience in raising both flowers and vegetables in our local area and has come upon and solved many of the problems that we newer gardeners are facing.

* A possible solution to our present Postal Service financial problems?

Stop by the quilt show

The Chugiak-Eagle River Histocial Society urges our readers to stop in at the Chugiak Mountain Quilt Guild’s quilt show at the Eagle River Town Center (12001 Business Blvd.) during Bear Paw and view the Sunbonnet Sue quilt on loan from Kathy Jones. It was made in approximately 1930 for Kathy’s daughter-in-law Lois Jones by Lois’s mother and grandmother, and later passed on to Kathy who brought it to Eagle River.
