Legion season wraps up Saturday
Chugiak sits in third place; Eagle River in eighth

Chugiak Post 33 (13-5-1) is currently in third place heading into its final four games of the season.
Chugiak hosts Juneau today (July 18) at 6:30 p.m. before traveling to Kenai the following day for a doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m. at Coral Seymour Memorial Park. The Mustangs end their regular season against Juneau on Saturday, July 20 at 5 p.m. at Oberg Field.
Eighth-place Eagle River (8-11) hosts Bartlett today at 6:30 p.m. before concluding the regular season at Wasilla on Saturday, July 20 at 1 p.m.
Chugiak sweeps Service
Chugiak swept a doubleheader over Service on Tuesday, July 16 at Oberg Field. The Mustangs won the first game 4-2 and took the second game 12-9.
Eagle River 10, East 6
Eagle River used a seven-run fourth inning to overcome an early three-run deficit and down East 10-6 on Monday, July 15 at Loretta French Park.
Michael Rosenberg had three hits and R.J. Dirscherl drove in two runs for Eagle River.
The Wolves played Dimond on Wednesday, July 17, but a score was not available when the Star went to press.
Eagle River 13, Woodinville 3
After dropping its first three games, Eagle River crushed Woodinville (Wash.) Post 127 by a score of 13-3 on Sunday, July 14 at Mulcahy Stadium to finish the 19th Annual BP Invitational 1-3.
Lauren Frost led the Wolves with four RBI’s. Michael Rosenberg drove in three runs and had two hits.
Napoleon 7, Chugiak 1
Chugiak finished the BP Invite with a record of 1-2-1 after Napoleon (Ohio) beat the Mustangs 7-1 on Sunday, July 14 at Mulcahy. Napoleon went on to win the championship 7-6 over East Texas on Sunday.
Texas 12, Eagle River 3
R.J. Dirscherl, Kyle Frost and Rosenberg hit doubles in Eagle River’s 12-3 loss to East Texas on Saturday, July 13 in the BP Invite at Mulcahy.
Chugiak 9, Eagle River 8
Chase Wilson racked up for hits to help Chugiak get past Eagle River 9-8 on Saturday, July 13 in the BP Invite at Mulcahy. Trailing by five, the Wolves scored four runs in the final inning but came up short.
David Fuller led Eagle River on offense with three RBI’s.
Texas 4, Chugiak 3
East, Texas scored in the top of the eighth to edge Chugiak 4-3 in extra innings Friday, July 12 at the BP Invite at Mulcahy. Hunter Hanson had a pair of hits for Chugiak.
Chugiak 6, Dimond 6
Dimond battled back from a 6-0 deficit to end in a rare draw with Chugiak on Friday, July 12 at the BP Invite at Mulcahy. Vander LeKites had a pair of hits for the Mustangs, who also got two RBI’s from Kai Fugere.
Dimond 12, Eagle River 8
Eagle River opened the BP Invite with a 12-8 loss to Dimond on July 11. Rosenberg drove in two runs for the Wolves.
Chugiak 15, East 0
Chugiak cruised to a 15-0 over East on July 10 at Mulcahy, invoking the mercy rule in five innings.
Chase Gall scattered four hits, struck out three and walked one to earn the win. Gall also had two hits, including a two-RBI triple.
Deven Ferriss had three hits and drove in two runs, Alex Hess had two hits, and Hunter Hanson had a pair of hits, including a three-run home run, for the Mustangs.
