Got art?

The Alaska Fine Arts Academy does, and the Eagle River community arts center wants to share.

The AFAA is currently offering a variety of summer camps and workshops geared toward everyone from beginning dancers to aspiring magicians.

“We’ve got stuff for all ages,” said AFAA’s Jana Shaw.

The academy’s summer camps program began May 28 and runs through the first week of August. A complete schedule is available at www.akfinearts.org.

Among the subjects to be covered in upcoming workshops are acting and costuming techniques, ballroom dancing, mural creation, improv camp and more.

Shaw said there’s a wide range of workshops geared toward participants ranging from toddlers to adults.

“It’s open to everybody,” she said.

Other workshops include stop action filmmaking, Shakespeare immersion and even a circus camp.

Shaw said turnout for some workshops has been spotty, and she’s hopeful that people realize just how much is going on at the AFAA, which is located 12340 Old Glenn Highway, Suite 200. If enough people don’t sign up for certain workshops, they might not happen due to lack of attendance.

“I don’t want to cancel anything,” she said.
