After allowing four runs in the bottom of the eighth, Chugiak-Eagle River rallied for three in the top of the ninth to take a back-and-forth 6-5 Alaska Baseball League win over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots Sunday morning at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.

Steven Karkenny's two-run single with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth proved to be the game-winner. Reliever Jacob Howell retired the Pilots in order to close out the bottom of the inning.

JJ Turbin and Tyler Shryock each had two hits to lead the Chinooks.

The "Midnight Sun" game began under cloudless skies at Mulcahy at 10 p.m. and didn't end until nearly 1 a.m. With the victory, first-place Chugiak-Eagle River improved to 5-2 in the league.

The Chinooks are off today (Sunday, June 24) before heading to Fairbanks, where they'll play three straight against the Goldpanners before returning to the friendly confines of Loretta French Park on Thursday, June 28 against the Mat-Su Miners.
