The Bear Paw Pageant

The 25th annual Miss and Mr. Bear Paw Pageant will be held July 11 at 7 p.m. Come out to the Steve Primis Auditorium at Chugiak High and cheer on your local teens and enjoy their talent performances.

The event offers scholarships opportunities for local Eagle River, Chugiak and Peters Creek young men and women who are enrolled in grades 9-12. They compete in costume competition and personal interviews. This is a pageant based on poise, creativity, friendliness and service to the community.

The Miss Bear Pageant contestants will all join in activities during the festival helping with different activities and spreading fun throughout the Bear Paw Festival.

 

Scholarships to be presented for the 2013 winner’s include:

* Miss Bear Paw Queen will receive a $1000 Scholarship Sponsored by Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions Club

* Mr. Bear Paw King will receive a $1000 Scholarship Sponsored by the Chugiak-Eagle River Foundation

* The female contestant who is selected for the Most Outstanding Community Service Record will receive a $500 scholarship Sponsored by the Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions Club.

* The male contestant who is selected for the Most Outstanding Community Service Record will receive a $500 Scholarship Sponsored by the Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions Club.

 

Along with the scholarships, contestants are recognized for Best Costume, Miss Congeniality, and Mr. Congeniality.

The 2012 winners were Queen Wendy Martin, Princess Vicoria Bensel, King Taylor Andrews and Prince Nathan Dennis, and we wish to thank them for their service to our community for the past year.
