Shane Wheeler, of Eagle River, has graduated with a Juris Doctor in Law from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. Wheeler was one of nearly 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students who participated in graduation ceremonies held May 19 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Samantha Hartke, a 2013 graduate of Chugiak High School, has been selected to represent Alaska as a delegate to the 2013 National Youth Science Camp held in West Virginia from June 26 to July 20. Hartke is planning to study Biomedical Engineer at the University of Texas at Dallas this fall. Hartke, who was valedictorian of her class at Chugiak, joins 121 other top science students from across the nation and around the world for this acclaimed honors science leadership program. For the next month, the delegates will be immersed in science lectures and hands-on directed studies led by some of the top scientists and professors from around the world. They will also have the opportunity to embark on many outdoor adventures, including climbing, camping, caving, and mountain biking.

Nathan Oliver, of Eagle River, graduated from New Mexico State University during commencement ceremonies held May 11 in Las Cruces, N.M. Oliver graduated with High Honors as a Crimson Scholar with a 3.9 GPA. He is the son of Robin and Earston Hewitt and Ross and Ashleigh Oliver.
