Blanchard leads locals at Mayor’s

Eagle River’s Michael Blanchard posted a time of 3 hours, 2 minutes, 22 seconds to place 15th overall and lead all local competitors across the finish line at the 40th Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon Saturday, June 22 in Anchorage.

David Kiplagat won the 26.2-mile race in 2:23:23.

Other top-50 locals in the race included Eagle River’s Daniel Carlson (33rd), James DeVecchio (37th) and Chugiak’s Sergei Zelenkov (47th).

Eagle River’s Kathleen O’Brien placed 68th in the women’s race to lead Chugiak-Eagle River runners. Anna Dalton of Anchorage won the women’s division in 3:09:01.

In the half marathon, Peter Renner finished 29th in 1:30:31 to lead a group of six top-50 locals that included Roan Hall (31st), Michael Baka (33rd), Tyler Foster (34th), Derek Nottingham (44th) and Scott Logan (50th).

Aaron Fletcher won the 13.1 mile race in 1:12:43. Monica Ross placed 15th overall to win the women’s division in 1:26:20.

Chugiak’s Hannah Booher placed 28th among local women and Eagle River’s Kat Roch was 31st.
