Student says thanks for scholarships

Published:

I would like to thank the Eagle River Elks Lodge and Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions Club scholarship committees for awarding me scholarships. In the fall I will be attending UAA. Your support has kept me from worrying about the financial aspect of going to school and pursuing my dreams. I truly value my education and believe being a pilot in Alaska is a great way to not only make a living, but give back to my community through organizations such as the Civil Air Patrol.

I’ve had a love for airplanes since I was a child. I’ve always been fascinated by how airplanes could just fly through the air. Later I joined the Civil Air Patrol and got the chance to actually fly small aircraft with an instructor next to me. Since then, I’ve been able to solo in not only powered aircraft but gliders as well. I have always loved airplanes. With your help it’s actually starting to become an achievable goal and a realistic career for me.

I also want to thank everyone who helped arrange or attend events that make scholarships available for people in our community. Your support is appreciated!

Thank you again for your generosity in helping me to pursue my passion for aviation in the state of Alaska.
