John R. Vincent (J.R.), 44

Chugiak resident John R. (J.R.) Vincent, 44, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Feb. 26th, 2014.

A memorial service will be held March 8 at Eagle River Funeral Home. Eagle River Lodge #13 of the Free and Accepted Masons will perform the memorial service, which will be followed by a reception offered by Marrian Halstead and Cha Mai unit of the Ladies Oriental Shrine.

His ashes will be spread at a later date at several of his favorite locations.

Mr. Vincent was born July 23, 1969 at Nüernberg Army Hospital, Germany, to John G. and Roberta C. Vincent of Eagle River. He attended Chugiak High School, graduated in 1987 and attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he graduated with a bachelors degree in Economics. He worked several jobs around the state and for the last several years worked with his father in the family business, Vincents’ Services Landscaping and Excavating.

His family said, “J.R. loved outdoor activities, which included snowmachining, 4-wheeling, and off-roading. He also loved operating heavy equipment and driving truck. J.R. had a big heart and loved to talk; he never met a stranger. He was a kind and loving son, husband, father and partner.”

Mr. Vincent was preceded in death by grandparents, John Z. and Violet Vincent and George Robert and Virginia Lee Campbell, all from West Virginia.

He is survived by his parents, John G. and Roberta C. Vincent of Eagle River; son, John W. Vincent of Chugiak; wife, Brenda Janak Vincent, of Chugiak; and two step-children, Tiphanie Janak from Springfield, Ore. and Nickolaus Janak from Portland, Ore.

Arrangements were by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
