Carolyn was born to Ed and Marion Briggs on Aug. 2, 1964, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from McAuley High School in 1982. She received a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Washington University in St. Louis in 1986, and completed the coursework for a master’s in environmental science. Carolyn spent the majority of her day homeschooling her youngest children, taking care of the house, and managing the family apartment rentals. She was a member of Saint Andrew’s Parish in Eagle River and devoted her time to attending adoration, teaching Faith Formation, and helping out with the Bereavement Committee.
Carolyn enjoyed playing games with her children as well as enjoyed solving crossword or Sudoku puzzles.
“At the end of the day, however, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. She enjoyed sitting by the fire, recounting the day’s events and simply talking,” the family said. “Carolyn was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She devoted much of her life to helping others and was one of the strongest women that her family ever knew. Carolyn will be sorely missed by all who knew her.”
She is survived by her husband Mark; children Annaliese and Samuel; mother and father Marion and Edward Briggs of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; brothers Chris, Bob, and Dan; sister Barbara; and her six nieces and nephews.
