Chugiak softball continues to roll
Mustangs improve to 9-3 on the season; Wolves to head north in search of victories

Chugiak softball improved to 9-3 with a 9-1 win over Bartlett on Monday, May 14 at Albrecht Fields.
The Mustangs swept Service 7-0 then 13-4 in a doubleheader Saturday, May 12 at Albrecht.
In the first game, Jessica Tramp and Katy Bakker gave up a combined eight hits, struck out six and only surrendered one walk.
In the second game, Bakker pitched a complete game, where she struck out eight and only gave up five hits.
East swept Chugiak in a doubleheader May 9. The Mustangs committed eight errors in the first game, which led to a 13-9 loss.
Chugiak committed five errors in the second game, which East won 16-3.
Chugiak plays a doubleheader today (Thursday, May 17) against West at Albrecht at 5:45 p.m. then concludes its regular season with doubleheaders at Kodiak on Friday, May 18 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 19 at 10:45 a.m.
Eagle River fell to 0-15 with a 17-2 loss to South on Monday at Albrecht.
West swept Eagle River in a doubleheader May 9. The Eagles won the first game 18-0.
Kelly Youngs had two RBIs for Eagle River, which lost the second game 15-5.
Jasmine Smith and Amberlin Seegrist scored two runs apiece.
East beat Eagle River 17-0 then 12-0 in a doubleheader Friday, May 11 at Wendler Middle School.
Sarah Peyton went 1-for-2 in the first game.
Homer handed Eagle River a 27-5 nonconference loss Saturday, May 12 at Albrecht.
“We really did not put forward our best effort,” Eagle River head coach Kevin Murphy said.
The Wolves play Colony today at 6 p.m. at 9th and C Street then head to Fairbanks for four games. On Friday, Eagle River plays Monroe Catholic at 4:30 p.m. then West Valley at 6:15 p.m.
On Saturday, the Wolves play Lathrop at 11:45 a.m. then North Pole at 1:30 p.m.
