Chugiak’s Abbey Cobb, a Senior Early Childhood Education major, was named to the Spring 2013 Dean’s List at Bob Jones University. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a 3.0 grade point average.
Eagle River’s Shana M. Joy graduated from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore. on June 15, 2013 at Reser Stadium on campus. Joy received a Bachelor of Science degree (Cum Laude) in Natural Resources.
Eagle River’s Nicole R. Quier graduated from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore. on June 15, 2013 at Reser Stadium on campus. Joy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Sciences.
Eagle River’s Hunter Gally, a freshman criminal justice major, has received a Student Success scholarship from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn. Students who receive the Student Success Scholarship are required to have a 21 or higher on the ACT and be in the top 50 percent of graduating class, or have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
Chugiak’s Kody Pataky has been named to the Dean’s List at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. Students must have completed a minimum 12 credits and earned a minimum 3.5 GPA to make the list.
Chugiak’s Alexis Sayer is among 39 Linfield College students participating this spring in a Linfield study abroad program. Sayer, a junior majoring in anthropology and nursing, is studying at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where she will study with 15,000 Irish and international students. Students choose their own courses, allowing them to become better integrated in the school and Irish culture. In addition to classes, students are required to complete 40 hours of community service in a program of their choice. Galway is the third largest city in the Republic of Ireland and is regarded as the cultural capitol of the country because of its music and arts, according to a press release issued by the school. Sayer is the daughter of Troy Sayer of Eagle River and Jennifer Young of Chugiak. She is a member of Linfield’s Residence Life staff and garden club.
