Chugiak softball still alive in state tournament
Mustangs take on Juneau at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday

Chugiak will look to advance to the semifinals of the Large Schools ASAA/First National Bank Alaska Softball State Championships on Saturday when the Mustangs take on Juneau-Douglas at 9:30 a.m. at Cartee Fields in Anchorage.
Chugiak went 2-1 in its first day of the tournament.
The Mustangs defeated West Valley 2-0 in the opening round. All the scoring came in the fourth inning, and all of it came from recent Chugiak graduates.
After Taylor Bakker singled, Tracie Haken ripped an RBI single to score Bakker. Kacey Brooker then smacked an RBI double to score Haken and put the Mustangs up 2-0.
Darion Gobert pitched the complete game shutout for Chugiak.
After losing to East 7-2, the Mustangs rebounded with a 14-1 rout over Service in their third game of the day Friday.
