Rohde leads tracksters at Kodiak Invite
Chugiak High’s Tyler Rohde won the 200-meter dash and 300 hurdles and took second in the 110 hurdles to lead all local tracksters at the Brian Young Invitational on Friday and Saturday, May 24-25 at Kodiak. The event featured 20 teams from around the state.
Rohde’s time of 38.02 seconds in the 300 hurdles was 0.56 seconds faster than the current state record set by South’s Elliott Bauer in 2011. However, state records can only be set at the state meet.
Rohde won the 200 in 22.49 and was one hundredth of a second behind Bartlett’s Taj Showalter in the 110 hurdles.
Chugiak’s Chris Kveseth won the 800 in 1:58.60 — nearly two seconds ahead of Kodiak’s Levi Fried in second.
Eagle River’s Ed Hall had a pair of second-place finishes in shot put and discus and his teammate Peter Kott placed second in the 100. Rydell Reinbold finished third in discus for the Wolves.
On the girls’ side, Eagle River’s Scout Warners had two second-place finishes (high jump, 200) and placed third in the 300 hurdles.
