Crayton, Lochner win pageant titles
Annual Miss Chugiak-Eagle River event held Nov. 10 at Mirror Lake

Lillian Crayton, an 18-year-old freshman at the University of Alaska Anchorage, was named the 2013 “Miss Chugiak-Eagle River” on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Mirror Lake Middle School auditorium. Crayton performed a piano solo of Johann Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” for the talent portion of her performance.
She’s chosen “The Importance of Extracurricular Activities” as her Year of Service platform.
Carolyn Layne was named First Runner-up.
Regina Lochner, a 16-year-old home school student from Eagle River, was named “Miss Chugiak-Eagle River Outstanding Teen.” Lochner performed the song “I Won’t Give Up,” by Jason Mraz.
Her platform issue is “Encouraging Theater in our Youth Through the Alaska Fine Arts Academy.”
Victoria Jones was named First Runner-up.
Crayton and Lochner will move on to participate in the statewide Miss Alaska and Miss Alaska Teen pageants, respectively.
Also during the pageant, Queen Regent Dora Jones, 92, was honored for her six decades of service to the Chugiak-Eagle River community.
This year’s pageant theme was “Proud to be an American,” in honor of the Veterans Day holiday. Special entertainment was provided by the Stars Dance Studio performers.
