Driving without headlight leads to DUI arrest
Anchorage’s Jessica Boyce, 23, was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a revoked license after police stopped her for driving with a headlight out and speeding on the Old Glenn Highway and Skyview Ave. in Chugiak on Nov. 16 at 7:50 p.m.
Boyce provided a breath sample of .290 — more than three and a half times the legal limit of .08 — said APD spokesperson Anita Shell. She was taken to Anchorage Jail with bail set at $2,500.
Eagle River man caught shoplifting
Eagle River’s Steven Johnson, 52, was arrested for shoplifting $1,067.41 worth of miscellaneous items from the Eagle River Walmart on Nov. 18.
Police were called to the scene after a security guard and Johnson were wrestling in the parking lot, Shell said. Johnson, who was intoxicated, took a variety of items, she said, including tools, a camera, propane and a jacket.
Johnson was taken to Anchorage Jail with bail set at $1,500.
Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
