The Seawolves are coming to Eagle River.

The University of Alaska Anchorage hockey team is playing an exhibition game against the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the McDonald Center to raise money for the Mustang Hockey Association.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the puck drops at 7:07.

Watching Division I hockey without traveling to Anchorage is a rare treat, said MHA board member Nicole Quinn.

“UAA right out here in Eagle River. That is gonna be so fun,” she said. “A lot of people don’t get the opportunity to do that.”

A raffle will be held during the game to give fans a chance to win a UAA autographed jersey and Alaska Aces tickets.

During the second period intermission, the Blue Devils PeeWee Tier II 12-U team will be honored for winning the 2012 2A national title — the first in MHA history.

Following the game, kids and adults can skate with the Seawolves for 30 minutes. Participants need helmets and skates.

Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the door or online at www.mustanghockey.us. Quinn recommended buying them beforehand — just 700 will be sold.

“They’re actually really starting to pick up in sales,” she said.

The event will provide Chugiak-Eagle River residents with plenty of entertainment, Mac manager Reid McDonald said.

“That UAA game is gonna be awesome,” he said.
