Chugiak football clinches playoff spot
Bartlett cruises past Eagle River
Chugiak used two defensive touchdowns to beat East 27-13 on Friday, Sept. 27 at Anchorage Football Stadium and secure a spot in the postseason.
At 4-2, the Mustangs are tied with Service (4-2) for third in the Cook Inlet Conference.
West and South are both 5-1, but their first-place tie will be broken today (Thursday, Oct. 3) when the Eagles and Wolverines meet in the regular-season finale.
If South wins, Chugiak could finish second in the conference — provided the Mustangs beat Bartlett (2-4) when they host the Golden Bears on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. for their homecoming.
Eagle River (1-5) had its playoff hopes eliminated after suffering a 65-6 loss to Bartlett on Saturday, Sept. 28 at AFS. The Wolves finish the season against winless East on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. at ERHS.
