Eagle River woman arrested after driving wrong way on Glenn

Eagle River’s Kellie Jean Miller-Nagel, 48, was charged with driving under the influence and child abuse after driving the wrong direction on the Glenn Highway with her son in the vehicle when she was more three times over the legal limit, according to Anchorage Police.

APD spokesperson Dani Myren said APD received a REDDI (report every drunk driver immediately) report Dec. 1 that a Jeep was traveling inbound on the Glenn in the outbound lanes in Eagle River.

Miller-Nagel was stopped at 10:50 p.m. and provided a breath sample of .257, Myren said. The legal limit is .08. She was taken to Anchorage Jail.

Volunteer patrol leads to DUI arrest

Wasilla’s Austin Kenneth Gee, 27, was charged with driving under the influence after being stopped at 3:05 a.m. on Birchwood Loop on Nov. 30, Myren said. Officers responded to the area after receiving a report of a vehicle speeding and swerving from a DUI patrol volunteer, Myren said. Recently, APD has had Anchorage Citizen Police Academy graduates in unmarked vehicles looking for impaired drivers on the weekends.

Gee provided a breath sample of .125, Myren said, and was taken to Anchorage Jail.

Burglar makes off with $800 worth of items

An unknown person stole nearly $800 worth of items from a detached garage in Chugiak on Nov. 30. Among the items taken from the garage on Eastside Drive included two saws — one valued at more than $500 — and tools, Myren said.

Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
