Longtime Alaskan, James (Jim) P. Krafft, 64, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2014 at Morton General Hospital, Morton, Wash. A celebration of his life will be held in Alaska at a later date.

Nitza Delgado Hollinger, 49, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 peacefully at her home in Nikiski, with her husband, two boys and sister by her side.

Kyle Wesley Klepinger, 44

Kyle Wesley Klepinger, aged 44, of Soldotna passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. The funeral service was held on June 21 in the Soldotna High School Auditorium. A Celebration of Life followed the service.

Robert Zachary, 27

Eagle River resident, Robert Zachary Firlan, 27, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Anchorage from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Funeral services were held May 10, 2014 at the Dimond Boulevard Baptist Church in Anchorage, followed by a celebration of life at the VFW Post in Eagle River. Burial will be at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Lynn Alin Bradfield, 54

Lynn Alin Bradfield, 54, of Eagle River, passed away at Providence Alaska Medical Center on April 29, 2014 due to cancer. A memorial service will be held at a later date, for which all friends and family will be notified. Lynn’s cremated remains will be scattered at two of his favorite fishing spots, Jim Creek as well as Deep Creek in Ninilchik.

Graduating with honors Candace Blas, Chugiak High School graduate 2006, graduated cum laude from the University of Alaska, Anchorage -Spring 2014, with a degree in International Studies. Her first two years of college were spent in North Carolina at Wake Forest University and Appalachian State University. Currently, Blas is the campaign manager for Claire Ross (D) who is running for the Alaska State Senate, District K.




Congratulations to former Eagle River resident LCDR James “Jimmy K” Kenshalo, for being selected for the prestigious 2013 Order of Daedalians Exceptional Pilot Award. Kenshalo served as the pilot in command of an MH-65C helicopter during the daring rescue of six hypothermic hikers requiring immediate evacuation from a remote cove near Point Reyes, Calif, late last year.


Congratulations to Chugiak-Eagle River students honored by the Alaska Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German at the eighth annual German Studies Awards Ceremony and Reception April 15.
