Chugiak dunks Eagle River

Chugiak nearly pulled off a full-meet sweep of Eagle River on Sept. 9 at Chugiak with victories in all but one event.

The Chugiak boys won 106-35, while the girls pulled out a 109-53 win.

Chugiak’s girls swept every event, while the boys won every event but one.

Double winners for the Chugiak girls included Samantha Burke (200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke) and Amanda Vikdal (50 free, 100 back).

Double individual winners on the boys side included Grant Ensign (200 free, 100 back), Andrew Espe (200 IM, 100 fly) and Ethan Espe (50 free, 100 breast.

Blaise Fox-Icarro won the 500 yard freestyle for Eagle River.

Other individual winners for Chugiak’s girls included Amy Hartke (200 free), Kaitlin Friedli (diving), Maegan Lange (100 fly), Cierra Holtman (100 free) and Erin Cockreham (500 free). Other winners on the boys side were Shawn Fugere (diving) and Luke Schenbrenner (100 free).

Kate Mondl placed second in two events for the Eagle River girls, which also got runner-up finishes from Samantha Coy and Courtney Fox-Singh.

The dual meet season continues this Friday, Sept. 16 with Chugiak traveling to Service to face the South Wolverines and Eagle River against Dimond at West High. Both meets start at 4 p.m.
