Disappearing Stew
Cook's Corner
By BY CYNTHIA LOWE
4 cups meat in bite sized cubes
2 cups each cut in bite sized cubes: celery, onion, potatoes, turnips
2 cups each frozen peas, canned tomatoes
Place meat in heavy kettle. Cover with hot water. Bring to a boil and simmer 2 hours. Skim fat.
Add celery, onions and turnips. Partially cook.
Add potatoes, peas and tomatoes.
Simmer until all is tender.
This old-time stew recipe can be brought up-to-date for reindeer by adding a good dash of poultry seasoning or ginger, or for moose by adding 2 bay leaves.
It is especially good cooked outdoors over a wood fire for hours and hours.
You may make any quantity you desire, but be sure to make a large enough amount.
It disappears like magic!
