Peter Livingston Worthington, of Eagle River, died at home on August 24, 2013. He was 87.
Mr. Worthington was born April 21, 1926 in Shanghai, China to William and Thelma Worthington.
He graduated from the University Of Cincinnati in 1950, earning a degree in chemical engineering. He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater-Philippines.
In 1989, he retired from General Electric in Greenville, S.C. He and his wife, Betty, moved to Alaska in February 2007. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church of Chugiak, a member of the McMillan Lodge of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Cincinnati Chapter 2 Royal Arch Masons. He volunteered extensively at the Chugiak-Eagle River Food Pantry, was active in the Boy Scouts of America, and was a vigil member of the Order of Arrow. He was also an avid birder and member of The Nature Conservancy.
He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Worthington; daughters, Maude G. Worthington and Julia Worthington Martin; son, Peter L. Worthington; son-in-law, Edward Scott Martin; and grandchildren Hans Worthington, Morgan Worthington, Cassidy Worthington, and Beth Martin.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Charles H. Worthington.
His final resting place will be Oak Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
