Spartan return continues

The fourth and final “advance party” plane load of paratroopers from the Army’s 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division arrived at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson on Monday, Sept. 17. The arrival of approximately 230 soldiers brought the total of redeployed soldiers to about 500, according to the Army.

The remaining members of the 3,500-soldier brigade will be returning to Alaska on a series of “main body” flights scheduled for later this month and continuing into October.

The “Spartan” brigade has been serving in Afghanistan since late 2011.
