Shopper took order to go without payment Officials at Carrs Safeway contacted the Anchorage Police Department after a male ordered two sandwiches from the deli and left the store without paying Feb. 4. According to police department spokesman Lt. David Parker, the man fled the scene in a late-model Dodge minivan. Police have been unable to locate the suspect.
Road rage with a weapon Brandon Johnson, 21, of Chugiak, was arrested following a road-rage incident in which he brandished a handgun, threatening the driver of another vehicle Feb. 5. Johnson was arrested for assault in the third degree and transported to the Anchorage Jail, where his bail was set at $3,000. According to Anchorage Police Department spokesman Lt. David Parker, Johnson told officers he was angry because another driver was following too closely and continued to follow him as he tried to drive away.
Police called to settle family dispute, assault A teenage female was arrested after assaulting a family member who was holding an infant during a disagreement Feb. 6 at a home on Fire Creek Trail Road. Anchorage Police Department spokesman Lt. David Parker reported that the girl was remanded to juvenile detention on charges of fourth-degree assault and reckless endangerment. There were no injuries reported.
Erratic driving leads to felony DUI arrest John McFarlin, 54, of Palmer, was arrested on charges of eluding, felony DUI, driving while license suspended and driving without required insurance at 7:35 p.m. Feb. 3 after leading police in a chase northbound on the Glenn Highway.
Blood alcohol was three times legal limit William Peirce, 55, of Chugiak, was arrested for DWI and driving while license suspended just after noon on Feb. 3 after Anchorage Police Department officers witnessed him driving erratically on the Glenn Highway. According to Anchorage Police Department spokesman Lt. David Parker, Peirce provided a breath sample, which yielded a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit of .08. He was jailed on $7,500 bail.
