Iowa student wants to know all about we Alaskans
Good morning. My name is Thysen G. I am a fifth-grade student at West Ridge Elementary School in Harlan, Iowa. My class is studying geography and history of the United States. I was happy to choose Alaska for my state. I'm interested in Alaska wildlife. I would appreciate it if you would send me a souvenir, brochure and information on your landmarks to learn more about my state. Mr teacher, Mrs. Newlin, would like a car license plate, if possible. I appreciate your time.
Indiana wants to hear from us, too
I am in seventh grade at Queen of Peace School in Mishawaka, Ind. We are reading "A Walk Across America" in literature. We have to research and do a project on a state. I chose Alaska. This project requires us also to choose a newspaper in that state and write a letter requesting that readers write and share what it is about their state that they love. I am asking that your readers would take the time and send a letter to me about what you love about Alaska. You can mail the letters to 55749 Black Pheasant, Osceola, IN 46561. Thank you!
People Mover could be saved if we all pitch in
What gives the people of Peters Creek, Eagle River and Chugiak access to all the major hospitals, theaters, restaurants, churches, malls, airports in Anchorage and local areas for only $4 a day (about the same price as a cup of coffee)? Answer: The People Mover bus system. Support the continuation of routes 76, 77 and 102. Save money. Save jobs. Save lives. Save People Mover bus routes 76 and 77 by calling Mayor Dan Sullivan at 343-7100; call Anchorage Assembly members representing Chugiak-Eagle River: Debbie Ossiander at 343-4113; Bill Starr at 350-5481; write or call the Alaska Star (694-2727) or the Anchorage Daily News (257-4346); ride the bus and encourage others to ride too. Donate money to the People Mover, specifically for the preservation of those routes. Do something. The smallest effort is not lost.
