Velma Grace Coleman, 83, passed away on April 9, 2014, at Prestige Care in Anchorage. Service was on April 14, 2014, at Eagle River Grace Brethren Church. Grady J. Pennell III and Chaplain Keith Olson of Prestige Care officiated.

Velma was born on July 3, 1930, in Ottowa, Kan. She completed two years of college prior to marriage. She was a secretary for Southwest Bible Church and volunteered at a local hospital while living in Shawnee Mission, Kan. She spent her life as a wife and mother. When her husband retired they spent eight years traveling the US in their fifth wheel trailer. She made Anchorage her home in July 2008.

She was a member of Southern Baptist Church in the early years then later in life non-denominational Bible churches. She loved camping, cooking, singing, playing the piano, sewing, and scripture memorization.

Her family stated, “Mom shared a witness and testimony for her Savior and King, Jesus Christ, with all she met.”

Velma was preceded in death by her brother, Hall Walker.

She is survived by her husband, Stan Coleman; children, Jann Fenton, Karen Arndt, Steve Coleman; grandchildren, Mike Griffin, Jason Carmitchel, Shelly Griffin, Sandra Gwynn, Matt Griffin, Victor Coleman; sisters, Doris Bullock, June Hollenshead, Marilyn Walker; brother, Zane Walker. She also leaves behind 18 great grandchildren.
