Eagle River’s Holly Darbous and Shane White were engaged on July 2, 2011 in Eklutna. Their wedding will be held July 7, 2012 in Moose Pass.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Lee and DJ Darbous of Eagle River. She is a 2006 graduate of Chugiak High School and works at Cook Inlet Housing Authority. She enjoys reading, hiking, going to the cabin and spending time with Shane and their two dogs, Bentley and Bruin.
The future groom is the son of Tina and Jim Graham of Anchorage and Rick White of New York. He is a 2006 graduate of Chugiak High School and works for Ashwater and Burns. He enjoys hunting, fishing, playing hockey and going on adventures with Holly.
The couple met when they were 10 years old at the Mac Center ice rink, and went to middle school and high school together, but didn’t start dating until a couple years after graduating from Chugiak.
Shane proposed after a four-wheeler ride to the top of Bellinger Mountain in Eklutna. Holly was enjoying the view when Shane dropped to one knee and said, “Holly Whittingham Darbous, will you marry me?”
“Of course I said yes,” Holly said. “It was perfect and how I always dreamed it would be.”
