Video: JBER soldiers train for Afghanistan
In this video provided by the U.S. military, soldiers from the 1st Squadron (Airborne), 40th Cavalry Regiment are seen training in the mountains near Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The training started with them loading into a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter, and getting flown into a landing zone, they then proceeded down the mountains, patrolling the area, and posting security until they finished their mission and reached the landing zone where they were to be picked up.
The 1-40th Calvary Regiment is part of the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
Most of the 3,500-member brigade are set to be deployed to Afghanistan later this month, and some of the advance team have already left for their mission.
