Snowplowing adds burden

At what point does a public service become public harassment? All of us have had to deal with the overwhelming snow we have been having and it is really starting to get to people. As bad as it has been, what is worse is the snow plows day after day plowing in the driveways and the mailboxes. I have been delivering mail in Eagle River for over 20 years and the worst part of winter is the snow plows. Day after day, the plows mess up driveways, mailboxes and streets. I have seen the plows take a drivable road and turn it into a sheet of ice. I have seen time and time again the plows come through and plow in driveways that were just cleared by the owner. I honestly don’t know how the people who live on Meadow Creek can deal with what they go at times 2 to 3 times a day.

Complain? Yeah right. We don’t pay enough in taxes to have our driveways plowed. Our houses pay for snowplowing, yet you plow in our driveways all the time. So what on earth are we getting for the hard-earned money we earn? The shaft? To watch a 65-year-old man just clear out his driveway and as he stands there as the plow puts another berm in his driveway is plain disgusting — and to think we pay the city for that privilege.
