Student seeks Alaska info

Wednesday, March 7, 2012 - 20:00

I’m writing this because in our literature class we are reading the travel diary, “A Walk Across America,” by Peter Jenkins. My classmates and I are contacting newspapers across the country in a state we want to learn more about. I want to learn more about Alaska because I wanted to know about things you do there, the cold weather, and how you cope with the snow, wind and blizzards. Your state interests me. After doing some research, I came across your newspaper, the Alaska Star, and your contact information.

I am writing to ask that you publish my letter to the editor in the Star. I would like your readers to write to me and tell me why they like living in Alaska, major points of interest or history about Alaska and what kinds of things there are to do in the state. If they could also include the page where they saw my letter, I would greatly appreciate it. Your readers should use our school address, but put the letter to my attention.

Thank you for your time and assistance with my class project. I look forward to hearing from your readers and learning more about the state of Alaska.
