Troopers: Body found near Eklutna Lake that of Houston man
Troopers said Thursday that the human remains found on Tuesday by a hiker near Eklutna Lake Road are those of a Houston man missing since early December.
According to a statement, Troopers believe Loy Suthammavong, 30, was the victim of a homicide.
Troopers say Suthammavong was reported missing on Dec. 6, 2011. That same day, Anchorage Police investigated a burning vehicle that was later determined to belong to Suthammavong.
The statement goes on to say that Suthammavong had recently been convicted of two felony drug counts at the time of his disappearance, and was about to begin his prison sentence when he was last seen.
The body was discovered Tuesday afternoon by a hiker on snowshoes.
