Stephanie Sparks, of Eagle River, and Daniel Rawlings, of Walton Hills, Ohio, will be married on June 23, 2012 in Girdwood.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Stephen Sparks of Eagle River and Jeanine Sparks of Wasilla. She is a 2003 graduate of Chugiak High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a master’s in school counseling from John Carroll University in Cleveland. She currently works as a school counselor at Houston High. She enjoys walking her dog, reading and camping.
The groom-to-be is the son of Janet Rawlings and the late Timothy Rawlings of Walton Hills. He graduated from St. Edward High School in 2003 and earned a bachelor’s degree in justice and a master’s in secondary education from the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is currently employed as a social studies teacher at West Anchorage High. He enjoys skiing and camping.
Dan surprised Stephanie by proposing at midnight on New Year’s Eve, 2010 in downtown Anchorage.
The couple met during their sophomore year of college, and have been dating for the last seven years. They recently purchased a house in Eagle River, where they plan to live with their dog, Wahoo. They plan to honeymoon in Hawaii in December.
