Eagle River’s Moriah Martin, 15, lost 5-4 in the opening round of the ninth World Taekwondo Federation Junior World Taekwondo Championships to the Czech Republic’s Tereze Schindlerova on April 5 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. Schindlerova won the bronze medal out of 32 girls in the middleweight division.
Martin, a sophomore at Anchorage Christian Schools, was the first female from Alaska to earn a spot on a national taekwondo team.
