Spring clean- up time!
It’s official: We have survived another winter of snow, ice and wind.
Just as every year break-up will always eventually come our way, so too will the abundance of orange bags lining the highways, neighborhoods and parks throughout our home.
This year’s citywide clean-up is May 12 through 19, and it takes an army of volunteers to get our beautiful city looking presentable for the thousands of tourists, family members and friends bound to visit us this year.
You can pick up your orange bags at all Fred Meyer locations, or at the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce office, located at 1016 West 6th Avenue, Suite 303. Once you have your bags filled, they will be accepted free of charge between May 12 and 19 at the Hiland landfill. On May 12 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., you can also bring your orange bags to the closest ASD school and they will be picked up from there.
No matter your age, the Anchorage City Wide Cleanup is a great time to take pride in our community. Spending a few hours with friends and family to make our community sparkle for the many who will take the trip of a lifetime to the land we are so lucky to call home is not a duty, but a privilege.
We hope to see many of you out and about in the weeks to come, and look forward to the numerous orange bags that will adorn our community for this week that is surely thought of by many as the kick-off to summer.
