Soccer club fares well Outside

The Chugiak Soccer Club’s ’01 Tsunami team recently completed a trip to Beaverton, Ore. to play in the Adidas Beaverton Cup. The 274-team tournament featured 274 teams from California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Hawaii and Alaska.

The team went 4-1 to finish in the top five in the 17-team Silver bracket. Their only loss was a 2-1 defeat courtesy of eventual tournament champion EastSide Football Club of Seattle.

The team will join others from the CSC and around the state this week for the Alaska State Cup, which began in Kenai on Aug. 1.
