Steven Wayne Moore, of Chugiak, died of natural causes on Aug. 8, 2012 in Anchorage. He was 48.

He was born in Anchorage on Feb. 17, 1964 to Oliver David Moore Sr. and Thelma (Waller) Moore. He lived on the family homestead in Chulitna with his mother and siblings when he was only 4-months-old and spent the remainder of his childhood in Chugiak. He was a 1983 graduate of Chugiak High School.

Steven served with Teen Missions several times between 1982 and 1992. His mother and sister, Diana, served alongside him in Florida as well as his oldest niece, Nicole. After his return from Teen Missions service, he attended school to become a massage therapist. He practiced both in private practice and clinics. Steven completed training in Colorado last year for his certification in Rolfing. While in Colorado, he was able to reconnect with a cousin who shared he was encouraging and uplifting to her on a regular basis.

“Steven loved the Lord his faith led him to serve with Teen Missions,” his family said. “Steven was part of a large family he loved deeply. Family gatherings included trips to family cabins in Glenallen and Chulitna, holiday celebrations, and an annual summer water gun fight. Steven always made friends everywhere he traveled. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver; and brother, Mark.

He is survived by his mother, Thelma Moore; brothers Joe Moore, Oliver Moore Jr., (and spouse Venita); sisters and their spouses Diana and Scott Carmen and Theresa and Phil Lucas; nieces and nephews Nicole Farr, Jennie Schroll, Shauna Moore, Jeremy Moore, Leah and Leesha Lucas; Bryan, Ben, Danielle, and Aaron Carmen; great-nieces and nephew Hannah and Owen Farr, and Ava and Kaelyn Schroll; friends Lance Lampert, Tina Barela, and many many other friends from around the world.
