Cops visit pair of businesses
The U.S. Attorney’s office isn’t commenting on several police raids that took place in Anchorage and Eagle River on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
That day, Anchorage Police and agents from the U.S. Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms shut down two businesses in Eagle River — Eagle River Liquor and Up in Smoke — for several hours while law enforcement officers investigated inside.
Kevin Feldis, chief of the criminal division for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, would only confirm that the raids were in connection with an ongoing federal investigation.
“While the investigation is still active we can’t comment any further,” he said.
KTUU-TV reported that raids were also carried out at least three other businesses in Anchorage.
Employees at both locations in Eagle River said they had no idea why police and federal agents visited the stores.
Feldis said he’s not sure when the government will announce more information about the investigation.
