Spartan brigade changes of command are in progress
The Army’s 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, is in the process of holding change of command ceremonies for the brigades six battalions. The ceremonies began Nov. 27 and continue through Nov. 30, followed by a brigade change of command ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Lt. Col. Richard Scott assumed command of the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry from Lt. Col. Christopher Cassibry, during a change of command ceremony Nov. 27.
Lt. Col. Peter Crandall assumed command of the 725th Brigade Support Battalion from Lt. Col. Brad Hinson, during a change of command ceremony Nov. 28.
Lt. Col. Christopher Ward will assume command of the 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment from Lt. Col. Frank Stanco, during a change of command ceremony today (Nov. 29).
Lt. Col. Patrick Altenburg will assume command of the 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment from Lt. Col. Shawn Daniel, during a change of command ceremony today (Nov. 29).
Lt. Col. Tobin Magsig will assume command of the 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment from Lt. Col. Patrick Ellis, during a change of command ceremony Friday, Nov. 30.
Lt. Col. Kevin Perera will assume command of the 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion from Lt. Col. Frank Smith, during a change of command ceremony Friday, Nov. 30.
On Dec. 5, Col. Morris Goins will relinquish command of the brigade to Col. Matthew McFarlane during a ceremony at Hangar one on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson at 10 a.m. Dec. 5.
The ceremonies will conclude the brigade’s battalion- and brigade-level changes of command as it conducts a reset phase following its 10-month deployment to Afghanistan.
