Wolves finish seventh at Cactus Jam

Cook Inlet Conference play begins next week

Eagle River High’s boys basketball team finished seventh out of eight teams in the Cactus Division at the Cactus Jam Hoop Classic in Phoenix on Dec. 26-31.

After suffering two close losses, the Wolves beat Medicine Hat High School (Alberta) 62-51 in the seventh/eighth-place game Saturday, Dec. 29. The Wolves improved to 2-2 overall.

Eagle River opened the tournament with a 58-50 loss to eventual runner-up Lake Washington (Wash.) on Dec. 27.

Cedar Park Christian (Wash.) edged Lake Washington 54-52 in the title game Saturday.

On Friday, Dec. 28, Bergen Catholic (N.J.) earned a 51-46 win over Eagle River.

Cook Inlet Conference play begins Tuesday, Jan. 8 when Eagle River hosts East. The girls tipoff at 6 p.m. with the boys following at 7:30.

Chugiak opens its conference schedule at Bartlett on Tuesday, Jan. 8. The girls game is set for 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30.
