Second half surge propels BCS boys

Caleb Duplessis and Mike Rud combined for 32 points to lead Birchwood Christian School past visiting Peninsula Conference foe Ninilchik 48-28 on Friday, Jan. 4.

Duplessis scored a game-high 19 points and Rud added 13. Chris Manning chipped in eight points, Dakota Jones and Dante Roark each added three and David Rud scored two for the Warriors, who outscored Ninilchik 31-13 in the second half. BCS hosts Seldovia on Friday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. before traveling to Wasilla Lake Christian School the following day at 11:30 a.m.


East 75, Eagle River 34

Visiting East routed Eagle River 75-34 to open Cook Inlet Conference play Tuesday, Jan. 8. Shaquan Rhoades (11 points) and Hunter Hill (10) reached double digits for the Wolves.

The Wolves open the Alaska Airlines Classic at West High today (Jan. 10).


Bartlett 64, Chugiak 53

Chugiak dropped its CIC opener to Bartlett 64-53 on Jan. 8 at Bartlett. Skyler Fullmer had a game-high 17 points for Chugiak, which also got 15 from Payton Fullmer. The Mustangs host Dimond on Friday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m.



Ninilchik 28, BCS 26

Visiting Ninilchik edged Birchwood Christian School 28-26 in Peninsula Conference action Friday, Jan. 4.

Ariel Rud paced the Warriors with a game-high 14 points. Katelynn Becker scored six, Aubrey Becker added four and Tia Goward had two.

Birchwood hosts Seldovia on Friday, Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m. before traveling to Wasilla Lake Christian School the following day at 10 a.m.


East 78, Eagle River 38

East downed Eagle River 78-38 on Jan. 8 Sam Coy paced the Wolves with 11 points. Taria Page scored a game-high 29 points for East. Eagle River fell to 0-1 in the CIC.


Bartlett 45, Chugiak 34

Bartlett defeated Chugiak 45-34 in the CIC opener for both teams Jan. 8 at Bartlett. Madison McAleavey led the Mustangs with 9 points, while Andre Samaniego and Sammi McMullen each had 8.

The Mustangs travel to Wasilla today (Jan. 10) at 6 p.m. before hosting Dimond on Friday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m.
