Three of four local prep bowling teams won their matches on Thursday, Jan. 10 at Eagle River Bowl.

The first-place Chugiak girls held onto the top spot with a 22-13 win over East. The Mustangs’ win kept them 15 points clear of Dimond for the league lead. Meanwhile, the third-place Eagle River girls gained ground on both the Mustangs and Lynx with a lopsided 30-5 win over South. The win gave Eagle River 115 points on the season — just seven back of Dimond for second place.

On the boys side, Eagle River moved up one spot in the standings to fourth place with a 27-8 victory over South. Chugiak’s boys were the lone local team to drop a match, falling by a slim 18-17 score to East. Nevertheless, the Mustangs held onto the third spot in the standings.

Bowlers return to action for Week 6 of the eight-week season Jan. 24 at Jewel Lake Bowl in Anchorage. The final “bowl-off” matches of the season are scheduled for Feb. 7 at Eagle River Bowl.
