Barbecue meat loaf

3 lbs. ground beef (or game)

2 cups cracker crumbs

Onion salt to taste

2 eggs

3 tablespoons salt

½ teaspoon pepper

2 large cans Hunts tomato sauce

1 cup water

6 tablespoons vinegar

6 tablespoons brown sugar

4 tablespoons prepared mustard

4 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce


Mix first six ingredients plus 1 cup of the tomato sauce. Press into a pan. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over meat loaf. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 ¼ to 1 ½ hours.


*This receipe from Madeline Mackey in 1962 can be doubled for a large family. It can be halved for a smaller loaf, or consider dividing it into two small loaves and freezing one.
