Eagle River will have more than bragging rights on the line when it meets Chugiak on the ice Saturday, Jan. 26.

Led by a pair of goals by Brett Wood, the Wolves beat West (6-6-1) 3-1 on Tuesday, Jan. 22 to tie East at 5-8 in the conference.

Should the Wolves win and the T-Birds lose their regular season finales — East plays West on Friday — Eagle River would secure fifth place going into the Cook Inlet Conference tournament.

“That’s gonna be big,” Wolves’ head coach Bill Comer said. “Every game here on out is a playoff game.”

The seventh-place Mustangs (3-8-1) play No. 2 Dimond (11-1) today (Jan. 24) at Ben Boeke at 6:45 p.m. Chugiak needs wins in its final two games to leapfrog Eagle River in the standings.

The puck drops Saturday at the McDonald Center at 7:15 p.m.
