Gruening Middle School students recently presented a check for $2,000 to be donated to a South African school at the Dena’ina Convention Center on Friday, Feb. 22 during the Alaska Chapter of the Safari Club International’s American Heroes Night. The school raised money from its Colt Café to donate to Mmera Primary School in Lepalale, South Africa. Miller traveled to South Africa last summer and visited the school, where she found students in grades K-7 in need of teaching materials and clothing. Gruening partnered with South Africa’s Kuvhima Safaris to donate money to the school.
